Singer-Songwriter Venissa Santi Performs at Minton’s Playhouse (New York) on August 22nd.
What do legendary radio host and jazz expert, Bob Parlocha, Latin music icon, Ruben Blades, renowned promoter Dick Le Palm (formerly of Chess Records) and Latin American pianist, Danilo Perez share in common? They are all in agreement that Cuban American Singer-Songwriter, Venissa Santi is a name to watch. As journalist, Raul D’Gama wrote in his review of her debut recoding, Bienvenida, “She joins the likes of Billie Holiday, Abbey Lincoln, Sheila Jordan, Elis, Rosa, Celia, Flora Purim and fewer others than can be counted on the fingers of a hand-as the highest practitioners of the art of vocal music.”
Saturday August, August 22nd, Venissa and her quartet will perform at the Uptown Lounge at Minton’s Playhouse. The famed Harlem jazz club that hosted such luminaries as Thelonious Monk, Count Basie and Duke Ellington.
